Personally, having a tool such as iGoogle available is very helpful in organizing and keeping track of all ones’s social network sites. This same organizational feature of iGoogle I will find useful for my work as a school librarian. One helpful feature in a school setting is the calendar, which can be used to post important dates of upcoming special school/library events, such as when library books are due at the end of the year and the timeline of our annual Tech Fest. A library blog that is linked to iGoogle can be useful for communicating with parents and students. Once I establish my library blog, I can then link it to my iGoogle page. I especially like the bookmark feature for quick access to recommended sites that I can use for my teachers and my students. This tool is one that I see myself using both professionally and personally. One thing that concerns me, however, is the fact that this tool will not be available after Nov.1, 2013. Hopefully there will be a replacement available.
